Independent Bank is proud to sponsor the Greater Memphis Chamber’s Small Business Council. We are grateful for the online format for the “Lunch in the Know” series, keeping small businesses engaged and bringing them timely and relevant information. The topic for most recent in the series: “Considerations on PPP and Bringing Your Employees Back” was presented by Charles Rodriguez, Vice President of Human Capital Management and Marty Barton, SVP, General Counsel & Chief HR Officer, both with Adams Keegan.
Here, we recap our Top Takeaways:
Hurry up and wait
There are so many questions surrounding PPP, particularly as it relates to loan forgiveness, and unfortunately the answer to many of those questions is that we still don’t know. Guidance should continue to be forthcoming, but what to do in the meantime? Charles and Marty agree that the best thing you can do is: document, document, document! Keep documentation of every expense you have as it relates to payroll and otherwise. Processes and requirements could vary from institution to institution, so stay in touch with your lender early and often. Your lender should be in the know as guidance comes out and able to help you navigate the process.
We are in this together
As you can imagine, every industry and each business has its own unique challenges as it relates to Covid-19. It would be impossible to address them all in a webinar, but Adams Keegan has many great Covid-19 resources on their website. Additionally, Adams Keegan offers a weekly Employers Summary Q&A Session, Fridays at 10 AM CT. You can view the recording from May 1 here.
